Ugandan bag gardens all planted up!

Year 4 did a smashing job this week planting up our Ugandan bag gardens!  They learnt about the anatomy of plants and how to handle and plant them.  The children took great care planting lots of different plants such as peppers, brassicas and fuscias in suitable places in the bags.  Again they showed great team work and worked really hard.  Well done!

London, day 2 - marching down to the Palace

06:10 Mercury rising

Its a lovely morning in Cheshunt. The birds are singing, the sky is clearing and the air is warm. We're in for a sunny day in central London, as a platoon in scarlet marching down the Mall. We had an amazing sleep, and most are still far away in dreams of wizards and goblins.

Remind us about yesterday Anya...

Warner Bros Studio

At the studio, we went on a tour, looking at the props and costumes. There were lots of wands and countless outfits. We had to find all the golden Snitches that were hidden around the place. There was the ice sculpture from the Yule Ball, and Dumbledore’s office. We saw the Gryffindor boys dormitory and common room. In the creature department, we could see dragons, Thestrals, Basilisks and a scale animatronic of Buckbeak. In an exclusive workshop, we worked together to create a film pitch. Across the whole tour, we took photos of all the stuff. Me and Robyn had a photograph in Hagrid’s motorbike and sidecar, as well as some of our group sitting in the turquoise Ford Anglia. We also saw a model Hogwarts castle, used for filming panoramic scenes in the films. Afterwards, we spent some of our money at the gift shop. It was hard to choose, as there was so much and we only had 15 pounds. Eventually, I chose a Pygmy Puff keychain, a sugar quill and some stuff for my brother. It was a brilliant first day. My favourite part was the animal display, explaining how they trained the cats, dogs and Pygmy hippos to act in the movies, and the huge dragon head and the dragon skeleton.

Thanks Anya.

9:30 Bus Beiber

DJ Utteridge is once again demonstrating a misspent youth leading the singing assembly featuring Ed Sheeren, Justin Beiber and a whole host of unknown others, whilst 'Neil at the Wheel' leads us through one of London's biggest car parks.

When we went to the Warner Bros studio, we got to go on a tour and look at all the stuff and bought things from the shop. I chose a book called Quidditch through the Ages™and a Hufflepuff badge. We also got to see a real life actor (the actor who played Luna Lovegood)!!!!!!Today was SO fun (maybe, just maybe my favourite day of my whole life and that’s a BIG thing coming from me because I’ve done a lot of amazing things in my life).

Some major achievements in this photo. Well done you.

Meeting the locals.      7:20 Hungry like the wolf We're finally back for tea. What a (long) day...     Thursday was was an amazing day. For the first time, Year 5 trips visited (the front of) Buckingham Palace, walked down the Mall, saw Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, walked across Westminster Bridge, sat in on debates in both Houses of Parliament, and performed a story map to an international (but slightly bemused) audience. It was a fantastic day. And Mr Utteridge didn't sing on the way back to the hostel...yey! See you tomorrow.
