On Wednesday 5th of July a team of year 5 athletes, along with two year 4 athletes competed against other schools in Macclesfield in the annual district athletics event. This event is predominantly competed in by Year 6 athletes. However we were unable select our Year 6's, meaning some of our athletes had to compete in age groups above.
On the night we were unable to claim any medals but we did have children make it through the heats and into the finals; putting themselves in with a chance of a medal.
Both Caitlin Wood and Luke Yusuf Short made into the final of the Y4 girls and boys 60 meters sprint.
Lucy Dykins made it through to the final of the Y5 girls 60 metres sprint.
Dot Bodimeade made it through to the final of the Y6 girls 80 metre sprint- finishing an excellent 5th place.
The girls relay team also made it through their heat to the U11 girls relay final.
There is a lot of talent amongst this group of pupils. Our team spirit and enthusiasm shone through as ever and the children are already ear-marking this as a key sporting event next year.
Well done guys! Next year we will bring home the trophy!
