Parkroyal's netball team took part in the Macclesfield Primary Schools Netball Tournament on Saturday, and came away with a creditable performance, against the best teams in the town.
Starting with a match against Marlborough's A team, Parkroyal started brightly but were undone by the shooting skills of their opponents, giving Marlborough a 3-0 win.
They followed this with a close fought match with eventual runners-up Upton Priory A. Our team played some really good passing play but lost to a late goal, falling to a 2-1 defeat.
The final group match was against Beech Hall. This was hard fought and the team grabbed a well deserved 0-0 draw.
The team finished on 5 points, securing 3rd place in their group. This gave them a playoff match against Marlborough's B team, which they won 2-1 thanks to spectacular goals from Milli.
The final game saw them play Whirley in the playoff final for 3rd placed teams. Despite Whirley taking an early lead, Parkroyal had plenty of forward play and deservedly equalised from a brilliant Milli finish. There was some thrilling end to end play but was won by a late Whirley goal.
Parkroyal can be proud of the role they played in the tournament, which was organised by Mrs Roberts, with Mrs Chappell and Mrs Goodwin the scorers. Lucy Dykins and Kitty Savage were the runners. Thank you to everyone.
Thank you to Mrs Smith and Miss Moore for coaching the team, and for the parents who turned up in large numbers to support. Parkroyal's successes could certainly be heard all across the courts. The team played with energy, enthusiasm and great sportsmanship.
