Netball team end the league season with a great performance

Parkroyal's netball team travelled to play Marlborough this afternoon, their final match of the league season. And it proved to be one of the best performances of the year.

The team's passing in the first quarter was crisp and accurate, and created a number of chances. However, Marlborough scored twice in quick succession through excellent forward play, although Milli scored a great goal before the end of the first quarter.

Despite continuing good play in the second quarter, Marlborough scored three fantastic goals to lead 5-1 at half time.

Although Parkroyal couldn't get the ball into a scoring position in the 3rd quarter, their defending was excellent as Marlborough pushed forward, the the 3rd quarter ended with no score.

In the final quarter, Parkroyal really pushed for a second goal but space was tight up front. The defending continued to be excellent with Isabel and Alfonso getting numerous tips and interceptions. However Marlborough scored another two excellent goals from their skilled attackers.

Final score: Marlborough 7 - 1 Parkroyal

Parkroyal can be proud of the way they played today, definitely one of the best of the season, full of energy, enthusiasm, skillful passing and determined defending. A positive vibe has been seen all through the year and the children have clearly loved representing the school and appreciated Mrs Smith's coaching.

The team will now participate in the final event of the year: the Macclesfield netball tournament at Macc Academy, where all the local schools will be represented. Can Parkroyal emulate last year's surprise winners, Ivy Bank?

A huge thank you to Mrs Smith in her first season as coach for her encouragement and enthusiasm, and for umpiring the matches.

Thank you to all the mums and dads for their superb support of the team, this afternoon, and all through the season.
