Sports news Spring TERM 2017
What a wonderful morning out at The Ryley hockey club for numerous schools from Macclesfield and Wilmslow to compete in. Parkroyal 1 came 4th in their league games but showed great effort and team play in all four games. Parkroyal 2, with amazing effort and determination, won their league and carried on to win in the semi-finals. The final game was between Parkroyal and Lindow. This qualified us for the Cheshire and Warrington Level 3 school games finals, which will be held in Crewe on the 16th March 2017. To finish 2nd overall out of 21 teams is an amazing achievement- bring on the finals!
Great team spirit from all the players who competed in the Pop Lacrosse tournament on Wednesday 1st February at Macclesfield Leisure Centre. All children played with an amazing attitude and enjoyed playing as a close team against numerous schools from Macclesfield. The teams earned 9th and 5th place with one of our teams missing out on a place in the semifinals on goal difference.
A team of 9 boys and 9 girls from Years 5/6 joined 5 other schools at Macclesfield Academy to compete in an indoor athletics tournament. With a number of different track and field events: the children cheered, laughed and showed great teamwork in all events. Parkroyal earned 3rd place overall.
7 of our netball team took part in the Macclesfield Schools Sports Partnership High 5 competition at Macclesfield Academy. With minimal experience of High 5, the whole team gave a brilliant performance, playing some of the best netball of the season. Unfortunately the ball would just not drop in the net despite some excellent shooting opportunities and the final results were a 1-1 draw and 3 games lost, one by a last minute goal from the opposition. Well done to all of the team for being excellent ambassadors for Parkroyal.
An amazing two games played by Parkroyal A and Parkroyal B against Rainow school on Monday 30th January. Great team effort from all. Unfortunately the A team lost 2-1 and the B team had a hard fought 1-1 draw.
Sports news Summer TERM 2017: the story so far
5 pupils across years 5 and 6 competed as a team in a trampolining event at Macclesfield Academy. The team had to learn, practice and then perform a given routine to a set of judges. The routine outline was: straddle, seat drop, pike, seat drop, tuck and 1/2 turn. Pupils were marked against the following criteria: did they stay on the cross, were their moves clear and neat, pointed toes, straight arms and no extra bounces in between each move. Our team performed phenomenally and with great precision, leading to us winning the event and each team member collecting a good medal. No downs all ups in this event!
A team, consisting of 5 boys and 5 girls, from Year 5 competed in a Quad kids athletics events. The child competed individually to collect points across the events. The points were added together to generate an overall team total. The events were: 70m sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and vortex mega howler throw. Once again, our team was successful leaving the event as overall winners and a gold medal each (2nd medal in a week for a few of the girls).
The first of two Kwik Cricket events due to take place this summer was held at Macclesfield Academy. We entered two teams who have been practicing during enrichment sessions. Both teams competed with great intensity and sportsmanship. One of our teams won all of their matches and therefore were overall event winners. Another set of medals accomplished.
The second event due to be played was cancelled due to heavy rain and has been re-arranged for later in summer term.
Kwik Cricket (level 2), 2 Rounders events (WHS and Macc Academy) , Y3 Tag Rugby, Y4 Quick Sticks Hockey, Girls Cricket, District Athletics and Ultimate Frisbee.
